Community Links
Do you have a link that you would like to share? Is it a news story, a projection, a publication? As long as it's useful, we'd love to see it! Posting a link does not require an account right now, but if SPAM becomes an issue, it will be for users only.
Visit the Community Links Page to add/follow useful links.
If you are too shy to write an article on a subject, please consider posting a link here. The SpillWire fairies may consider writing one for you!
Live Feeds from Various Facebook Groups
The active Facebook groups and Twitter pages dealing with the oil spill are great sources of information. Here, we present the live RSS feeds that are generated by Facebook/Twitter. Note that, on occasion, a character is used in the post which renders the RSS reader useless.
- BPoilpocalypse (Twitter)
- Beyond BP (Twitter)
- Boycott BP (Facebook)
- Protest BP (Facebook)
- Stop the Oil Spill By Stuffing BP Executives into the Leaking Pipe (Facebook)
The Informational Website Trap
A traditional "informational website" may not change for its entire lifetime...it has the same boring, albeit useful, content. The goal of this collection of informational pages is to avoid a list of links and/or facts and instead focus on sources that will change every day (or, in some cases, much more frequently than that). That being said, social networking sites (I.e. Facebook) offer many groups that update their content every few minutes. Perfect!
Also, who better to determine what sites are best to look at than the users of this site? We encourage all of our users to look at one link and leave two that they found useful. This way, we will be able to create a very dynamic, far-reaching list of resources.
